Lonergan Engineering is looking for an Integrated Testing Coordinator (ITC).

With this new industry demand for Integrated System Testing of Fire Protection and Life Safety Systems, as per CAN/ULC-S1001, Lonergan Engineering has quickly become the industry go to for quality work. This new industry exercise knowledge around all systems fire and life safety, how these systems are intended to work in unison and save lives.

What is Integrated Systems Testing?

Planning: 

Our team of ITCs review engineering design intent for all fire and life safety systems. Our role is to understand the various integrations for the system to operate as one. The ITC will collaborate with the various engineers and contractors ensure the intent of codes, standards and sequence of operations is captured. The ITC will then develop written testing procedures, Integrated Testing Plan (ITP) to capture the real-world function test of these various systems. The ITP will become a live document for the life of the building. 

Implementation: 

Once the plan has been approved and construction is nearing completion, our ITC team attends the job site and will lead a team of contractors to implement these specific testing procedures. The ITC will document the process, answer questions, and witness the various functions. The final Integrated Test Report (ITR) will be sent to Owners and Authorities Having Jurisdiction (AHJ). The ITR becomes the base performance model for the life of the building. 

Job Description:

The successful candidate will have at least 3 years of experience with design, testing, and the integrations of:

  • Fire Alarm Systems
  • Fire Sprinkler Systems
  • Elevator Systems
  • Fire Pumps
  • Smoke Control Systems
  • Life Safety Power Systems
  • Suppression systems
  • Other fire and life safety systems

The candidate will be familiar with the following Codes and Standards:

  • Ontario Building & Fire Code
  • National Building & Fire Code
  • ULC-S524 Standard
  • ULC-S537 Standard
  • ULC-S536 Standard
  • CSA 282 – Emergency Power
  • CSA B44 Elevators
  • NFPA 13 – Sprinkler
  • NFPA 20 – Fire Pumps
  • NFPA 25 – Inspection & Testing Sprinklers
  • NFPA 80 – Fire Doors
  • NFPA 96 – Commercial Cooking Systems

Key Responsibilities:

  • Assist with drafting and developing Integrated Testing Plans
  • Engineering design review
  • Inspection & verification report review
  • Supporting the senior ITC with Implementation of the test protocols
  • Documentation collection
  • Preparing the Integrated Test Report.
  • Regular travel to the job sits as required

Qualifications:

The ideal candidate will posses: 

  • Degree in Electrical Engineering or related field; Certified Fire Alarm technician; or 309A Electrician.
  • Strong knowledge of building and the various fire and life safety systems
  • Experience with Autocad, Revit, Bluebeam, MS office, Google Workspace products
  • Experience with Visual Basics, MS Word in developer mode, MS Excel in Developer mode
  • Ability to read and interpret building codes and standards
  • Excellent organizational and communication skills
  • A valid driver’s license.
